E-mails come in all scents and colors! The emails that companies send to their customers usually have a certain format that matches their corporate identity. Behind this layout are the same programming languages that also write websites. However, unlike most web browsers, the functionalities of these languages are not fully supported by all email clients.

Font is a good example. For the consistency and familiarity of their brand, companies prefer to communicate everything in the font of their corporate identity. That font is usually not a standard font such as Arial or Times New Roman. The problem with non-standard fonts is that they are often not installed on the customer's device. If no backup font is coded, an email client chooses its own backup font. And this can lead to strange images.

In addition, it also matters on which device the customer views an email. The same email can look a lot different on a desktop than it does on a smartphone. All of this must be taken into account to prevent 'broken' emails.

No matter how good your message is, if the customer can't read it properly, the desired results are hard to find. The Christian Education Group (COG) is the umbrella foundation of the affiliated schools in the Vallei and Gelderland-Midden region. The COG has approximately 10,000 students and more than 1,000 employees, 30 of whom work in the IT department.
